The famous Fraser Island Maheno was driven ashore during a cyclone in 1935. A well-known trans-Tasman liner, the Maheno was bound for a Japanese wrecking yard, and instead ended up as one of the favourite photo destinations on Fraser Island. Today she slowly rusts away, about 10 kilometres north of Happy Valley.
