We are less than half way into Summer, and have some great reasons to cool down in Rainbow Beach:
- You could try cocktails on the Sandblow (pictured), a lovely way to kick off a weekend! Bring water, too!
- Live music across the road at the Sports Club, and a special event planned for Australia Day. Ask about their barefoot bowls – a fun way to get a family or group together.
- Put the Big Summer Blowout on your list – held February 29, if it is half as good as the sell-out Country at the Beach here last month, it will be awesome. Daryl Braithwaite, Wendy Matthews, Thirsty Merc and more! Make sure you get your tickets in time.
- It is a perfect time to try stand up paddle boarding, learn to surf, or take a tour (or 4WD drive) to Double Island Point or Fraser Island.
- Enjoy our patrolled beach, with views to the Coloured Sands.
- Or take a short drive to Inskip Point, a favourite for fishing.
- Look out for turtle nests! If you see signs on our beach, please avoid these areas.
- On the hottest of days, you can guarantee a real temperature drop if you have a dip at Poona Lake or Seary’s Creek. Both accessible by conventional vehicles and only a few minutes from town. There is a pleasant walk into the lake, great for a cardio workout. Or take the boardwalk (wheelchair accessible) at the creek, with steps into the water.
- Make the most of our modern community gym (across the road, again!) classes will move to 6.30am (from 7am) for Summer, there are also evening classes.
- Have a cool beverage with views from the Surf Club or Deck – or buy some fish and chips and picnic on the foreshore. Enjoy tapas or a meal at any of our wonderful eateries.
