It is great news for businesses in Rainbow Beach that Queensland will reopen to all of New South Wales at 1am on Monday, February 1.
Typically February is a quieter month as kids are back at school. There is plenty of availability right now for people south of the border to come see us again, or for the first time.
Expect wide open spaces, easy parking, no traffic, beautiful beaches with unique sandblows and freshwater lakes. We invite you to wind down with our relaxed Rainbow vibe. People don’t realise we have world class diving, Australia’s longest beginner surfing wave and the famed Great Beach Drive. Plus we are as close as can be to the international drawcard of Fraser
Island K’gari – the world’s largest sand island, with all the main attractions still pristine and accessible after the bushfires last year. Camping numbers have been reduced so much over the last year (initially due to Covid) that many businesses in Rainbow Beach are trying hard to recover.
If we can fill our beds at Rainbow Getaway, it keeps our team employed, plus it means all the other shops and tours in and around town can function, and they can keep their staff on, too. If you have littlies not yet at school it is perfect timing!
You can still enjoy the best of summer, without the holiday crowds. We have been very fortunate to enjoy excellent occupancy rates over the last six months – to keep our businesses functioning in our small tourist town we need that to continue.
Unfortunately, business owners across Queensland had little say over border closures and the red tape to organise permits.
Now the borders are open, we can welcome the eight million Greater Sydney residents who can finally visit Queensland. In the event of changes in travel restrictions, we offer booking flexibility and peace of mind for all New South Wales residents.
We understand that goverments have imposed lockdowns which prevented holidays – travellers should not be penalised for this.
Look forward to seeing you here!
