Wolf Rock Dive have now opened up adventure days for novices – Discover Scuba Dives or DSD, previously you had to have your qualifications to join in the fun.
One of the owners, James, said, “The whole course runs in one day – a theory component, basic concepts of SCUBA diving and safety. Then you go to the swimming pool – apply theory to practice.”
First you answer a medical questionnaire – if there are no obvious medical issues, you are right to start.
Please note if you are over 45 years, and a smoker OR if you have asthma, you need a dive medical first. Speak to your Doctor before you visit Rainbow.
Said James, “In the pool, you gain confidence in practice skills to build confidence like the regulator out of the mouth and putting it back in and clearing your mask of water.”
“Once you’ve done theory and the pool – you’re ready to go on an open water dive – we take you out on the boat, and we shallow dive in the open water – with the animals.”
The last group saw turtles, gropers and rays! These introductory dives are held in the shallower water, near the cliffs of Double Island Point. Participants can also snorkel at the same time.
Please note, there are minimum numbers, and it is weather permitting. So book in as soon as you arrive.
James says that one-on-ones are available – but they are expensive. It was good to know only 3 people are required for a course to go ahead, and you can have up to 8 people attend.
You can book direct, give James and the team a call on 07 5486 8004.
