Spring is here so it’s time to visit the beach! Beach, bushwalk, skate or cycle, there is so much fun to be had here. Here’s five that we love.
Go fishing! Take the short drive out of town to visit Inskip Point where you can take a charter or just go “out the front” on the beach where you’re sure to catch dinner. In nearby Tin Can Bay, there’s even a fishing day held where you can learn a few tricks from the pros.
Learn to surf on our uncrowded beaches and crystal clear water. Now that Spring is here, the water is warm, you can learn to surf in waist deep water with friendly instructors. Our reception will point you in the direction of instructors that are guaranteed to get you up on your feet.
Stories and craft First 5 Forever storytime is an interactive program for preschool children and babies featuring songs, rhymes, stories and craft. The sessions are held at the Rainbow Beach Library from 10am to 11am on Monday September 19 and 26 and also at the Tin Can Bay Library from 9.30 to 10.30am on September 22 and 29. Visit first5forever.org.au to find out more.
Discover Sailing in Tin Can Bay Now you can learn to sail in warmer weather during September 26-29 in the school holidays. Fifteen juniors recently gained their sailing skills when they attended the winter course. If the kids haven’t sailed before, the Status, trailer sailer will be used until confidence is gained and more ‘hands on’ techniques will be used later.
Upcycle at the library Don’t throw out your old drink bottles, change them into a shark catcher! Turn an old tie into a snake; an old CD into a colourful bird; a used drink bottle into a jellyfish or a milk container into a mask. There are so many ideas to choose from to recycle containers into reusable artworks. Join the free holiday activities at our local library 2.30 to 3.30 September 28 and Tin Can Bay Library 10.30 to 11.30.
