Day 1: Walk to Carlo Sandblow
Spend your day on the beach – enjoy a swim at the flagged area any time of year, and a walk up to the Coloured Sands. (Just remember to check tides first!)
In the afternoon pack your camera, some bubbly and a torch in a knapsack and walk up to the stunning sand blow. You can take the bushwalk track from behind the National Park Office, or drive to the carpark at the top of Cooloola Drive.
Soak up the views together from Double Island Point, turn west and you can watch the sun slowly sink over the sandy straights. Walk down the bushwalk to Cooloola Dr and back to the Getaway!
Haven’t prepared dinner? Stop in at the Rainbow Beach Sports Club for a delicious meal on the deck, just across the street from Double Island Drive.
Day 2: Hike to Poona Lake
A chance to enjoy the wildlife – but watch the critters. Don’t forget to pack togs, water and snacks (or lunch) and a camera – and definitely wear joggers and sunscreen.
To access this rainforest walk, drive towards Gympie and take the Freshwater track at Bymien Rainforest Park. The track is suitable for all vehicles.
Take some time out for a few hours. Settle by the shore of Poona Lake with a picnic, and perhaps have a swim in the russet-coloured water, a result of the surrounding native tee trees. It is such a secluded spot you may have the place all to yourselves!
After your active walk and swim, you both deserve to relax with a massage. Please ask us at reception about what and when to book.
Time to order some local fish and chips. Ocean Breeze Seafoods is located a short stroll away. All fish is fresh and made to order by friendly locals. Eat there, or grab it to go and enjoy while taking in a great view of the Pacific.
Day 3: Inskip Point
Enjoy a scrumptious brekkie at the Arcobaleno, or visit Café Jilarty who offer mouth-watering breakfasts, with hearty and modern options. Sit back and watch the world go by on our little main street.
Once you’re both fed and watered, pack your picnic, or grab something to go from one of the lovely cafés dotted up and down the main road.
Add your fishing rods and pick up some bait. If you have a 4WD take the first beach access road after the first roundabout on the Inskip Road. Please check the tides first (tide chart available at reception).
There is also a bitumen road to Inskip Point. Park near the trail roundabout and it’s not too far to walk with your gear to the beach side on the right or the still waters of Pelican Bay on the left.
Our ‘Top Tip’ is to walk along the beach to watch the barge. You can both hop on and go overseas as foot passengers – it’s free on foot.
Ask us about our Lazy Checkout!
The night before your check out, organise with us to have a lay-in with your loved one, or perhaps enjoy something you would otherwise have to miss if you rushed back home.
Other things to enjoy: Take a Tour!
Rainbow Beach has excellent tour options for all ages, ask our team and we will find something that suits you and book it for you.
One of our most popular tours is a great adventure on Fraser Island. World Heritage listed and only 15 mins away. You will see pristine rainforests, amazing lakes and travel down to Eli Creek.
Another enjoyable tour option is kayaking with the dolphins. You could both spend a day with one of nature’s most playful creatures in one of nature’s best parts of the world.
Both tours are big days. Our best suggestion is booking dinner out at the club across the street, the pub just down the street, or the lovely Italian place around the corner.
